This is a classic chess puzzle with a frame story. I’m not a chess player, but this seems like a clean implementation and a good explainer for the mechanics of the puzzle. I had to open the walkthrough for help with the last challenge, and was pleased to discover that it ties back into the frame story. It definitely sets this apart from, say, a chess puzzle I’d find on a chess website (I assume).

Uh, neat! Educational. Not what I usually show up looking for in IFComp, it kind of breaks my rubric. But it’s well made.
