Commonplace

War

I actually remember being superstitious about this game, and thinking I could influence the cards that came up. That didn't last long, and then I remember from an early age wondering how I could improve the game so that my intelligence would actually be an asset. Of course, the neighborhood kids would have none of that.

I have a memory in 2021 of Alleson playing War with my Grandpa Copenhaver who has dementia. We'd been looking for ways to keep him busy while Grandma was in rehab following her stroke, and while he didn't seem to enjoy the game much it kept him busy (and he had more fun putting the cards back in order afterwards than anything).
