Under the Bridge

Samantha Khan. 17th place, IFComp 2022 (tied with Esther's).

Played post-comp. A short and very polished game that, unlike Esther's, branches to several different endings. The endings are named which encourages replay to find a few of them. There are lightly animated illustrations and atmospheric audio. As a story it's simple and tight - being the bridge monster and deciding what to do with the humans that cross is fine, but then it's meaningfully elevated by the endings which give decades-later consequences to your choices.

I'd say this is a perfect complement to Esther's: Spooky and cool instead of sweet and cute. Feels similar in scope but each probably appeals to different players.
