A visual novel, a 15th century detective story. I was excited about this after it got some positive attention and was compared to Disco Elysium in some of the comments, and clearly has echoes of Pentiment… and then was deeply disappointed to learn that it's entirely noninteractive! This doesn't meet my definition of a game at all, it's a comic book you have to click through that's been thoroughly marketed as a “game.” And while the writing is good, it didn't stand out to me as something I'd like to read on my screen for hours on end. Got several hours in, then dropped.
