Bejeweled Blitz

Released in 2010 by PopCap Games. Played on iPod Touch, then iPad. This is a game that has Pavlovian training down. Within my first three games, I'd broken 100,000 points. It took me maybe another 80 games to do it again. My wife had the same experience. How do they do that? There's obviously skill involved, but a huge degree of luck too, so there's always a feeling that “this next game might be the one.” Loses its shine a little when you accidentally break 400,000 and know you'll never beat it again.

When I eventually went to work for PopCap they had a giant version of this on a touch wall in the lobby of their office in Seattle. Employees would actually stop and play it now and then - this was especially interesting as a group experience because it supported multitouch and multiple moves at once, and you could do much better as a group than you might individually.
