Furniture & Mattress
Played through August 2024 after listening to AIAS game maker's notebook podcast interview with the developers.
A medium-length, polished puzzle adventure game that tells a good light story, has lots of quirk and charm and a number of good thinky puzzles without ever getting painful. The whole “Rubik's Cube World” thing sounds pretty rough isn't so bad in practice, as you're rarely thinking about more than a few key objects at a time. Instead this ends up kind of counting as a Sokoban, and a number of the same tricks and movement patterns apply.
Extra kudos to the devs on creating a world with a lot of visual variety that still reads cleanly throughout. I enjoyed the comic-book panels that pop up during play to add texture to the space.
