A Monster's Expedition (Through Puzzling Exhibitions)
I started this in December 2025 on Steam Deck, craving another elegant and chill Sokoban like Patrick's Parabox and Stephen's Sausage Roll (even though I never finished the latter).
At time of writing, haven't finished yet; not sure how far in I am, but I've learned a number of the core mechanics. Let me try to list them:
You can push over trees, creating a log and leaving behind a stump
Logs can be pushed end-over-end one space at a time, or rolled. Rolling logs roll until they hit an obstacle.
Stumps have elevation. You cannot push a log end-over-end while standing on a stump, but you can jump onto the log and walk on top of it.
Logs can be pushed into water, to form bridges. Single-log bridges are narrower than a grid space, and can only be traversed on their long axis.
Pushing two logs into the same water space forms a raft. Rafts do fill a grid space and can be traversed on both axes.
Rafts can be moved by pushing something while standing on them, or loading them and pushing the loaded object.
There are large trees that form two-space logs. Two-space logs can't be pushed end-over-end but they can slide. Large trees also form bridges and rafts. Making a raft from a large tree and small tree will make a small raft and leave a single floating log.
The only goal so far seems to be visiting all of the islands. There is definitely design space here for puzzles that involve moving logs across many islands, but I haven't identified a big metapuzzle yet.
