Released in 1997 by Hudson Soft. I barely touched single-player, instead spending hours on multiplayer over at a friend's house. The multilayered arenas and the very simple “charge bomb” mechanic were more fun that I expected, and allowed for several strategies. I wouldn't mind studying this one again.
