====== Go ====== The closest thing I played as a kid was [[Pente]]. [[:people:Jeff Hinschberger]] played Go so I learned a little in undergrad. I've wanted to learn more for a while, so during our 2021 holiday I picked up a Go book at Powell's, and I've started playing regularly online in January 2022. I'd like to rank up to 9k. I'm playing on https://online-go.com ([[https://online-go.com/player/1100636/|profile]]). I've got a list of my biggest [[go:mistakes]], hoping I can learn from them. ===== Progress ===== * Jan 10, 2022: 17.8k ± 2.0 (28 games, mostly 9x9) * Jan 24, 2022: 16.5k ± 1.5 (60 games, mostly 9x9) * Feb 4, 2022: 15.4k ± 1.4 (71 games, mostly 9x9) ===== Resources ===== This series of self-guided demos seems very good: https://forums.online-go.com/t/becoming-9-kyu-a-series-for-beginners/3809 A little painful to browse on a phone though. ==== Books ==== * [[:books:Go The World's Most Fascinating Game Introduction]] * [[:books:Go The World's Most Fascinating Game Basic Techniques]] * [[:books:Go by example Correcting common mistakes in double digit kyu play]] * [[:books:More Go by example Improving single digit kyu play]] * [[:books:Elementary Go Series Vol 1 In The Beginning]] * [[:books:Elementary Go Series Vol 2 38 Basic Joseki]] * [[:books:Elementary Go Series Vol 3 Tesuji]] * [[:books:Elementary Go Series Vol 4 Life and Death]] * [[:books:Elementary Go Series Vol 5 Attack and Defense]] * [[:books:Elementary Go Series Vol 6 The Endgame]] * [[:books:Elementary Go Series Vol 7 Handicap Go]] {{tag>board played duo "played in 2022"}}
